Pastoral Support

 
At West Kirby Primary we have a part time ELSA.
Mrs Kenyon delivers the ELSA sessions.
 
ELSAs are Emotional Literacy Support Assistants and are trained and supervised by educational psychologists.
 
An ELSA is a warm and caring person who helps your child to feel happy in school. The ELSAs aim is to support building your child's emotional development and to support and help your child to cope with life's challenges. 
 
The ELSA Role is to plan and deliver a programme to :
  • help support young people to recognise, understand and manage theirs and other children's emotions
  • support children in managing stress, grief, anger and conflict
  • support development of social skills
  • promote good self esteem and self concept
  • support development of initiating and maintaining friendships
  • Liaise with teachers and support staff with any information to help the child in class
  • Attend training days with Educational Psychologists
