What is a SEND Local Offer?
Each local area has a duty to publish information relating to the SEND services on offer regarding Health, Education and Social care. The idea being everything is in one place to help our SEND families navigate their way and be signposted to the advice and information they need to support their children and young people from birth up to the age of 25. News items and details of What’s On locally are also important, as is the option to get in touch to share feedback and suggest content.
SENDLO will evolve as the days and months go by. More and more content will be added. We are proud of the website we have produced but really want it to be as useful as possible for as many people as possible. We are actively encouraging anyone and everyone to visit the website and let us know what they think. Please share your ideas, article suggestions, events information and, of course, sign up for our regular newsletters. This is quick and easy to do via the SENDLO website.
How we identify and support pupils with additional needs at West Kirby Primary School
Why we have this process
We want every pupil to access our ambitious curriculum. Sometimes a pupil needs a little extra help to reach their potential. This information explains what happens when we spot a concern.
What happens when we have a concern
- The class teacher will speak to you within two school weeks.
- We will try a short, time-limited support plan (usually 6–12 weeks) and keep you updated.
- If your child needs longer-term or specialist help they will be placed on our SEN Support register and we will write a One Page Profile with clear targets.
What being on the SEN register means
- It means we will monitor progress more closely and may provide small-group or specialist help.
- It does not change how welcome your child is - they remain a full member of their class and we keep the classroom central to their learning.
How we involve you
- We will record our conversations on CPOMS and send you a copy of your child’s One Page Profile.
- You will be part of the termly review of your child’s School Support Plan and can contact the SENCo at any time: [Tracey McCann] - email: [SENCo@westkirbyprimary.sch.uk] - school phone: [0151 625 5561].
What you can expect
- Clear targets, simple explanations of what we are doing and regular updates.
- Records of meetings and any consent recorded on CPOMS (email or phone is fine).
- Support to help you help your child at home if you would like it.
Where to find more information
- Full SEN policy and the school’s SEND information report are available from the school office and on the website. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the SENCo.
